The Forge & Crafting

Quick answers

Is Iron Realms free to play?
Yes. Iron Realms is free to play in any browser with no download and no account required. Every building, troop tier and Seat of Power is reachable without spending money — purchases buy speed and cosmetics, never a higher ceiling.
Does spending money make you stronger in Iron Realms?
No. Nothing purchasable raises your power ceiling. A charter audit runs on every build and fails it if any offer would sell power. Spending compresses time: the summit takes about 24 months free, or 18 months with the $9.99 monthly Charter held throughout.
How long does it take to max a keep in Iron Realms?
About 24 months of free play at roughly half an hour a day, or 18 months with the $9.99 Warden's Charter. Keeps cap at level 45 and troops at tier 13 — the same summit for everyone.

Your lord and your dragon both fight better with the right steel. Crafting is where marginal battles are won — and where a patient collector out-fights a bigger, worse-equipped rival.

The Smithy

The Smithy is where gear is forged, upgraded, and reforged — rerolling a piece's bonuses toward the stats you want. Reforging costs materials, so target the pieces that matter for your role (a raider wants offence; a garrison lord wants defence) rather than reforging everything.

Gear kits & loadouts

Valyrian steel

Valyrian steel is the rarest crafting material — earned, not bought — and the key to the finest blades. The weekly Valyrian caravan and high-end content are your sources; save it for pieces worth the investment.

The Trophy Armory

Gear you are not wearing is not wasted. The Trophy Armory grants a passive bonus from displayed unequipped gear — so a deep collection pays off even when it sits on the wall. Collecting is a strategy, not hoarding.

Dragon gear

Dragons have their own dedicated dragon gear system — equipment that sharpens your dragon's role in war. As your dragon grows through its stages, better gear compounds its growing abilities. See Dragons.

The crafting rule

Forge for your role, reforge the pieces that matter, and never sell what the Armory can display.
